Heatsink & Fans
The Dell C6620 supports both air-cooled and Direct Connect Liquid Cooling (DLC). Liquid Cooling is not supported with all Risers configurations. Please read the Riser configuration table below for more detailed information.

The Extended Heat sink is used for a few different chassis with certain CPUs. If you want to install a single CPU on a 2.5” or NVMe Air-Cooled Chassis. Then any CPU with 270W TDP and below requires the extender heat sink (T0FVH). If you plan on using the No Backplane or E3.S Backplane. It is mandatory that all CPUs need an extended heat sink. The last rule is if you plan to install 2 Processors in the Diskless or E3.S Chassis. Then you will need to check the manual for the specifics of which CPU takes what kind of heat sink.

The Extended heat sink takes over 1 PCIe slot above the OCP 3.0 module.

Memory

On a two-socket configuration, the C6620 can support up to 16 DDR5 DIMs. This node server only supports registered ECC DDR5 DIMM. If a DIMM is not installed a blank must be in its place.

Expansion Slots

The C6620 Node server also has support for up to two 75 W (Low-Profile) GPUs. Along with a few different riser configurations.

Networking Adapters

The Node Server comes with a Broadcom BCM5720 Gigabit Ethernet controller and a 4 port OCP 3.0 slot. These along with the PCIe slots are the only way to expand the networking capabilities of the C6620 Node Server. When using the OCP or LOM ports you save a PCIe slot. This is very important since there are only 2 PCIe 5.0 slots on the back of the C6620 Node Server.

Storage Controllers

The Dell C6620 supports the NVMe and EDSFF Drives with the PERC 12 controller. The H965i PERC 12 controller can handle up to 8 drives per controller without a backplane switch. The system also supports the BOSS-N1 Riser which has 2 M.2 NVMe SSD drives for boot as well as PERC 11 cards.

Power

The C6600 holds 2 Power supply units to support up to 4 Sleds that could possibly have 8 CPUs and 64 DIMMs when fully populated. With so many CPUs and DIMMs to support the power supply units will be very large in capacity. The largest PSU for this system is 3200W.

3200 W AC and DC power supplies are only available in North America.
