The HPE DL560is the first 4 Socket server in the Gen10 DL Line. With support for One, two or four 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors. The only way to install 4 processors with the HPE DL5x0 Gen10 CPU Version 2 Mezzanine Board Kit (P07991-B21). Mixing different processor models is not supported. The DL560 Gen10 can handle up to 12 DIMM slots per processor, 6 channels per processor, 2 DIMMs per channel for a total of 48 DIMMs on a 4-Socket configuration. The ‘L’ and ‘M’ processor SKUs can support up to 1.5TB per socket. More than 1.5TB per socket requires the use of HPE Persistent Memory kits: available in 512GB, 256GB, and 128GB.
HPE Persistent Memory
is only supported on the 2nd generation processors. Mixing of RDIMM and LRDIMM memory is not supported. A maximum of 6 HPE Persistent Memory Kits per processor and a maximum of 24 kits are supported on the DL560. The HPE Persistent Memory Kits cannot be selected with HPE 800W Flex Slot -48VDC Hot Plug Low Halogen Power Supply Kit (865434-B21). Persistent memory kits of different capacities cannot be mixed within a server

The DL560 comes with embedded software RAID support for 10 SATA drives. Has the ability to expand up to 24 Drives with the 12GB SAS Expander(873444-B21). The system can install the Universal Media Bay (872267-B21) in Box 1 which is not available with the 24 SFF configuration. The HPE DL560 Gen10 8 SFF Bay 3 Cage/Backplane Kit (872237-B21) is shipped default with the server. There is an upgrade option to install 8 NVMe drives, but this option can only be installed in Box 2. A maximum of 12 NVMe drives can be supported with 2 NVMe drives in Bay 1, 8 NVMe drives in Box 2, and 2 NVMe drives in Box 3.
Chassis Types
The HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 8SFF Configure-to-order Server (841730-B21) is a 2U Server Chassis with 2 processor slots available; 3 or 4 processors configuration would require CPU Version 2 Mezzanine Board Kit (P07991-B21).
Since there is only 1 Chassis to choose from, let’s talk about the upgrades each front drive bay can handle. On the front of the DL560 Gen10 is 3 Boxes.
If you want to install 24 Front drives make sure to install the 12GB SAS Expander (873444-B21).
HPE Smart Storage Controllers
HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID will operate in UEFI mode only. For legacy support an additional controller will be needed, and for CTO orders please also select the Legacy mode settings part, 758959-B22. HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID is off by default and must be enabled. For enabling, please select HPE FIO Enable Smart Array SW RAID (784308-B21).
HPE Smart Storage Hybrid Capacitor with 145mm Cable Kit (P02377-B21) supports up to 3 performance RAID controllers. If 4 or more performance RAID controllers are selected, HPE 96W Smart Storage Battery (P01366-B21) is required.
This server supports two HPE Smart Storage batteries or one HPE Smart Storage Hybrid Capacitor. To support P-series Smart Array controllers, an energy pack must be installed.
Boot Drives
Two different options for Boot. You can use the HPE NS204i-p x2 Lanes NVMe PCIe3 x8 OS Boot Device (P12965-B21) or the HPE 32GB microSD RAID 1 USB Boot Drive (P21868-B21). The later does not take up a PCI slot.
PCI Risers
The DL560 Gen10 has 8 PCIe slots on 3 PCIe risers with the ability to support GPUs, Accelerators, drives and PCIe devices. If you install the secondary or tertiary risers you will need the 2nd processor to be installed. The tertiary risers can only be installed when using two PSUs. There is no space for tertiary risers when the four PSU’s are installed. If a secondary riser is required it needs to be ordered separately. This is because the tertiary riser is a butterfly riser and comes with PCIe slots 2 and 3 on it.
With support for up to 12 NVMe drives, this DL560 server has a few options. You can install the normal risers with NVMe ports on them, but there is a special NVMe expander that requires the Version 2 Mezzanine Board Kit (P07991-B21). The optional 4-port NVMe Mezzanine card (874633-B21) supports a maximum of 8 NVMe drives and does not consume a PCIe slot. It goes on top of the HPE DL5x0 Gen10 CPU Version 2 Mezzanine Board Kit (P07991-B21) and requires a four-processor configuration.

The HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 servers offer a flexible network technology - FlexibleLOMs, which offers customers a choice of 1 Gb, 10 Gb, 25 Gb or 10 Gb and 100 Gb base-T Ethernet or converged networking in their embedded adapter. A range of NIC cards are also available to enhance networking capabilities. A minimum of two Gigabytes (2 GB) of server memory is required per adapter. This DL560 Gen10 Rack Server does not come with embedded Lom, you must choose a NIC.
Cooling
6 hot plug fans are shipped as standard with N+1 redundancy. Processors over a certain TPD will come with a performance heatsink.
Flex Slot your power!
The tertiary risers can only be installed when using two PSUs. There is no space for tertiary risers when the four PSUs are installed. If a secondary riser is required, it needs to be ordered separately. All power supplies in a server should match, mixing Power Supplies is not supported. HPE DL560 Gen10 4x Power Supply Enablement Kit (875675-B21) must be ordered when selecting 4 power supplies.
HPE Flexible Slot (Flex Slot) Power Supplies share a common electrical and physical design that allows for hot plug, tool-less installation into HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers. Flex Slot power supplies are certified for high-efficiency operation and offer multiple power output options, allowing users to "right-size" a power supply for specific server configurations. This flexibility helps to reduce power waste, lower overall energy costs, and avoid "trapped" power capacity in the data center.
The server supports four power supply redundancy modes in UEFI System Utilities
-
1 + 1 Redundancy—In a two-power supply configuration, the server will continue to operate if one power supply fails. This mode is not applicable in a four-power supply configuration.
-
2 + 2 Redundancy—In a four-power supply configuration, the server will continue to operate if two power supplies fail or if one AC feed loses power.
-
3 + 1 Redundancy—In a four-power supply configuration, the server will continue to operate if a single power supply fails. The server will initiate operating system shutdown if two power supplies fail. No AC power redundancy is possible.
-
4 + 0 Redundancy—In a four-power supply configuration, there is no power supply redundancy. The server consumes more power than redundancy can supply and will initiate operating system shutdown if one or more power supplies
By default, the server is configured for 1 + 1 power redundancy.
