HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen10 server is a short-depth chassis of 15.05 inch providing mobility and easy deployment in a wide variety of environments.

HPE DL20 Gen10 Base Knowledge
Welcome to the DL20 Gen10 HPE Rack Server CTO. This Gen10 1U 1 Socket system can hold up to (4 DIMM slots per processor, 2 channels per processor,2 DIMMs per channel) with a max of:

• 64 GB (4 x 16 GB UDIMM DDR4 @ 2666 MT/s)

HPE memory from previous generation servers is not qualified or warranted with this HPE ProLiant Server. If you have any concerns, contact us.

Each DL20 GEn9 Rack server comes with the system board (P19256-001) which comes with the Embedded with HPE 361i 1Gb 2-Port Network Adapter and only supports theIntel Xeon E-2200 Family/Intel Core i3-9100/IntelPentium Gold G5420 processor. Each Processor comes with 1 Heatsink (687242-001).

This Rack Server by HPE has two different Bezel options. The HPE DL20 Gen10 Latch Ear FIO Kit (P06716-B21) is required to support the Bezel Kits. The HPE 1U Gen10 Bezel Kit (867998-B21) or the HPE Bezel Lock Kit (875519-B21).

DL20 Gen10 with new Intel Xeon E-2200 processors comes with an embedded HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361i Network Adapter (Intel i350) on board. You can upgrade the Network Adapter with a few options. Due to design limitations of the Butterfly Riser, it is not possible to populate a 4-port RJ45 PCIe card into slot 1 of DL20 Gen10 as it will cause an interference between the 4-port RJ45 and the FH bracket of slot 2. Therefore, a 4-port RJ45 PCIe card can only be accommodated in slot 2 of DL20 Gen10 with an FH bracket.

If you install any FlexibleLOM adapters you must install the FlexibleLOM riser Kit (P06667-B21). When a FlexibleLOM adapter is installed on a server with default iLO settings, port 1 of the FlexibleLOM adapter will be configured as a shared iLO port.

The installation of an optical drive (DVD-ROM or DVD-RW) is available on 4 SFF and 2 LFF CTO Servers. If the HPE DL20 Gen10 2SFF HDD Enablement Kit (P06671-B21) is supported, you will not be able to install the ODD. The Extra 2SFF Drives take up the Media Bay slot used for the ODD.
Each Chassis has its own cabling. The HPE DL20 Gen10 LFF ODD Cable Kit (P06681-B21) is used for the LFF Chassis and the HPE DL20 Gen10 SFF ODD Enablement Kit (P06677-B21) is used for the SFF Chassis.

The DL20 Gen10 has very limited Drive configurations. Below are the different drive setups.

• 2 Non-Hot-Plug Drives = 2LFF HDD drives
• 2 Drives = 2LFF HDD drives
• 4 Drives = 4SFF HDD/SSD drives
• 6 Drives = 4SFF HDD/SSD + 2SFF HDD/SSD drives

There is only one drive upgrade kit and it’s only for the SFF Chassis. This HPE DL20 Gen10 2SFF HDD Enablement Kit (P06671-B21) takes up the same slot as the ODD. When this is installed the only option for an Optical Drive is with an HPE Mobile USB DVD-RW Optical Drive 701498-B21. This USB Kit is only supported on USB 3.0 ports.

HPE DL20 Gen10 NVMe M.2 Drives
There are two ways to add the NVMe drives. But these drives are only in the M.2 form factor. You can install a normal Stand-up card. The HPE Universal SATA 6G AIC HHHL M.2 SSD Enablement Kit (878783-B21) takes one PCI slot but allows up to 2 Identical M.2 drives to be installed. This M.2 SATA Cable kit (P06683-B21) is required to support the HHHL M.2 card. Or you can install NVMe drives from the M.2 enablement kit that is attached to the iLO dedicated port module. When the HPE DL20/ML30 Gen10 M.2/Dedicated iLO and Serial Port Kit (P06687-B21) is installed, you have support for 1 M.2 Drive for boot. This kit includes one dedicated iLO module and one serial port cable, with one M.2 slot on the module for M.2 SSD installation.

HPE DL20 Gen10 PCI Risers
The DL20 Gen10 only has 1 Butterfly riser with 2 Riser Card options. One of the riser kits has a dedicated slot for only the FlexibleLOM cards. HPE DL20 Gen10 x8x16 FlexibleLOM Riser Kit (P06667-B21). The other option is the HPE DL20 Gen10 PCIe Low Profile Riser Kit (P09145-B21).

You can upgrade the Network Adapter with a few options. Due to design limitations of the Butterfly Riser, it is not possible to populate a 4-port RJ45 PCIe card into slot 1 of DL20 Gen10 as it will cause an interference between the 4-port RJ45 and the FH bracket of slot 2. Therefore, a 4-port RJ45 PCIe card can only be accommodated in slot 2 of DL20 Gen10 with an FH bracket.

HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID is installed but off by default and must be enabled by selecting (784308-B21). The S100i is a 14-port SATA controller, but only 12 ports are accessible as 2 are leveraged to support the 2 M.2 Boot options on the Primary Riser. The S100i supports Windows only.

To save room on the PCI card I suggest the installation of an Adaptive RAID on Chip (AROC) Cards when installing RAID or a SAS controller. If you do install the Performance Smart Arrays, you will also need to install the HPE 12W Smart Storage Lithium-ion Battery (782961-B21) and its holder.

HPE DL20 Gen10Cooling
Includes 3 standard single-rotor non-hot plug and non-redundant fans. This applies to all three chassis: 2LFF NHP, 2LFF HP, and 4SFF HP. The third fan is in the middle of the chassis.

HPE DL20 Gen10 GPU /Workload Accelerator
This system is an entry-level server and does not support Workload Accelerators, PCI drives, or Graphics Cards.

All Power supplies meet the EU Lot 9 regulation, which is essential in countries that mandatorily require CE marking, effective from 01 March 2020. The mixing of 2 different power supplies is NOT allowed.
