The Apollo 2000 System is the enterprise bridge to scale-out architecture for traditional data centers delivering the space and cost savings of density-optimized infrastructure in a non-disruptive manner. It is a dense, multi-server platform that packs a lot of performance and workload capability into a small amount of datacenter space while delivering the efficiencies of a shared infrastructure.

With Apollo 2000 System servers there is flexibility to tailor the system to the precise needs of each workload with compute and flexible I/O and storage options. Apollo 2000 System servers can be “mixed and matched” within a single chassis to support different applications and it can even be deployed with a single server, leaving room to scale as customer’s needs grow.

The Apollo 2000 chassis comes with 4 new generation single rotor fans and an additional 4 fans can be added for redundancy. The power can be managed by the HPE Advanced Power Manager (HPE APM) an optional rack level manager.

HPE Apollo 2000 Gen9 Base Knowledge.
This server has two major options, the chassis option which holds the Drives Backplane, Cooling fans, and 2 PSU. Or, the other major option is which Tray you want to install in the rear. Each of the Apollo 2000 Chassis can hold up to 4 x 1U XL170r Tray or 2 x 2U XL190r Tray. The server trays will hold the CPU, Memory, NIC, and PCI slot configurations. The Main difference between the two trays besides the 1U and 2U is that the 2U has additional PCIe slots in multiple configurations providing support for additional expansion cards and future support for two (2) integrated accelerators per server (GPUs or Coprocessors).

The minimum memory allowed in 2 DIMMs and mixing is not allowed along with installing DDR3 memory. With a total of 16 DIMMs per server, the Apollo 2000 Chassis can have 32 DIMMs total in a 2x 2U XL190r configuration. Or, 64 DIMMs in a 4x 1U XL170r configuration.

When choosing a Chassis the only thing you need to know is the r2800 supports flexible drive mapping across server nodes enabling custom drive allocations to match workloads giving more flexible storage density for various applications.

You may select any combination of SAS or SATA Hard Drives. However, if RAID is selected and both SAS and SATA Hard Drives have been selected, then only the SAS Drives will be used in the RAID set.
Note: If B140i is the primary controller, then you can only select SATA drives.

HPE Smart Storage Controllers
Apollo 2000 Server Trays come with an embedded B140i controller. If you would like to have RAID supported with this controller you must install the HPE FIO Enable B140i Setting (784308-B21). The embedded B140i does not work in Legacy mode, or AHCI. The B140i controller only works in UEFI mode. If B140i is the primary controller, then you can only select SATA drives.

HPE Apollo 2000 Gen9 Plus PCI Risers
--- This is the Major Difference Between the Server Trays---
The major difference between the server Trays is in the PCIe Riser Options and GPU / adapter cards supported. The 1U XL170r has only 3 options for Risers, a FlexlibleLOM riser or the normal right and left risers for the 1U Server Tray. This server supports Workload Accelerators but does not have any GPU Support.

The 2U XL190r server on the other hand has many different GPU’s it can support and most of them have their own special risers. Please look up the name of the risers to make sure it matches the GPU / Accelerator you are installing. We understand sometimes this part gets confusing. Networking Abilities | FlexibleLOM

HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers offer a new networking technology-Flexible Network Technology. The HPE ProLiant Gen9 server offers the customer the choice of 1Gigabit, 10Gigabit, InfiniBand, or FlexibleLOM solutions depending on workload. The Apollo server has the FlexibleLOM option with the installation of the LOM riser (1U - 798180-B21 | 2U - 798184-B21).

HPE Apollo 2000 Gen9Cooling
The Apollo 2000 chassis comes with 4 new generation single rotor fans and an additional 4 fans (800059-B21) can be added for redundancy. The HPE Advanced Power Manager (HPE APM) can manage the power, an optional rack-level manager.

HPE Apollo 2000 Gen9 Rack Consolidation Module (RCM)

HP Apollo 2000 Rack Consolidation Module Kit (798211-B21) is an optional RCM (Rack Consolidation Management) module kit that allows iLO aggregation at the chassis level and also has the port for the HPE APM. The RCM Module consists of 2 iLO ports for redundancy. It can also be daisy-chained to connect to a Top of the Rack (TOR) management switch. If using the RCM module iLO port or the dedicated iLO management port module to connect to a network, the network must operate at a speed of 1Gb/s.

HPE Advanced Power Manager (APM)
The HPE Advanced Power Manager (741192-B21) is an optional rack-level solution. HPE APM will automatically discover hardware components and enable server-level power on and off, server metering, aggregate dynamic power capping, configurable power-up dependencies, and sequencing, consolidated Ethernet access to all resident iLOs, and asset management capabilities. HPE APM features rack-level event logging, RADIUS authentication, integrated serial concentrator, up to 11 local user accounts, read-only service port, and supports SNMP, SSH, Syslogd, and telnet.
NOTE: use either the HPE APM port or an iLO port or install the RCM to connect to a network.

What does our ECS warranty cover?
We offer 1 year warranty as standard and additional years can be added to fit your needs. Please reach out to a sales associate via the Contact Us page or live chat for more information on extended coverage options. During the coverage period if your product fails we will offer a Next Business Day replacement. If we are unable to replace the product we will refund its original selling price. Shipping costs and tax are not refundable. Express Computer Systems retains the right to decide whether the goods will be replaced or refunded.

What is not covered by our warranty?
Our warranty does not cover any problem caused by the following conditions:

  1. accidents; misuse; carelessness; electrostatic discharge; shock; temperature or humidity beyond the specifications of the product; improper installation; operation; modification;
  2. any improper use that contravenes the instructions in the user manual;
  3. problems caused by other equipment. Our warranty is void if the product is returned with damaged, removed, counterfeit labels, or any modifications (including any component or external cover removal). Our warranties do not cover data loss or damages to any other equipment. In addition, our warranties do not cover incidental damages, consequential damages, or costs related to data recovery, removal, and installation.
