What is Cntlr-Shelf, Shelf-Shelf, and HA?
Cntlr-Shelf (Controller-to-Shelf) – This means the cable is used to connect a storage controller (such as an AFF or FAS system) to a disk shelf. This connection allows the controller to manage the disk shelves in the storage system.
Shelf-Shelf (Shelf-to-Shelf) – This indicates that the cable can be used to interconnect two disk shelves. This is important for expanding storage capacity by linking multiple disk shelves together.
Active (Active Pathing) – This indicates an active-active configuration, meaning both controllers in an HA (High Availability) pair have direct, active access to the disk shelves. Ensures redundancy and load balancing, improving system availability.
