Chassis Options
The HPE DL20 Rack Server is not very large in its 1U configuration. That’s why it can only hold up to (2) LFF drives and up to (4) SFF drives. The ML20 Rack server has both Non-Hot-Plug LFF Support and Hot-Plug Support. Please choose the correct chassis, it will come with the chosen backplane and cables to support the connection between the Storage controller and the drives.

UDIMM 64GB (4 x 16GB UDIMM @2400MHz)

Storage Controller, how to apply SAS
Standard Smart Array is the embedded B140i Controller which can handle up to 4 SATA drives at 6Gb. If you’re looking to boost the performance of your DL20 Rack Server by HPE. Then you will want to install the H240 FIO Smart Host Bus Adapter which provides 4 SAS/SATA drives at 12Gb. Both the B140i and the H240 HBA controllers can support RAID 0, 1 & 5. The DL20 HPE Rack Server also supports the P440, P441, and P841 Smart Array Controllers. Each of these will need the 96W Smart Storage Battery (P01366-B21) and the holder (822451-B21) for the FBWC to work properly.

Both the P440 and the H240 need to be installed in Full Height Slot 2 of the PCI Riser (854846-B21). The server chassis includes a mini-SAS cable required to connect the drives to the embedded B140i and the H240 HBA controllers.

The embedded B140i controller will operate in UEFI only mode. For legacy support, an additional controller will be needed, and please also select the Legacy mode settings part, (758959-B22).

PCIe Riser Cage (811267-001) and the Riser Cards
There is not much room in this 1U DL20 HPE Rack Server. If you select a P440, H240, or P841, the following 1Gb 4-Port Networking cards can’t be selected because they take up the same Full Height Slot 2 on the Dual side low profile PCI Riser Card (854846-B21) installed on the PCI Riser Cage (811267-001).

  • The HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-Port 331T Adapter (647594-B21)
  • The HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-Port 366T Adapter (811546-B21)

Alternatively, if you need the 331T or the 336T Networking card you can install the Flexible LOM version in Slot 1 of the HPE DL20 Gen9 Flexible LOM Riser Kit (811259-B21). Slot 2 on this riser card is PCIe 3.0x8 HH/FH while slot 1 is a Flexible LOM x8 HH/HL. The substitute for the 331T is the HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331FLR Adapter (629135-B22), and the substitute for the 366T is the HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 366FLR Adapter (665240-B21).

GPUs
If you choose any kind of GPU (Max 1), you can only install it on HL/FH PCI-e 3.0x16 Slot 2 with the HPE DL20 Gen9 GPU Enablement Kit (811271-B2). There is no slot 1 on this GPU Riser. Please reach the Tech Manual below for more details about the PCIe slots.

The HPE Quickspec manual below shows only two GPUs supported by the DL20 Rack Server.

  • Must have the HPE DL20 Gen9 GPU Enablement Kit (811271-B2) installed

Time to bring the power!
The DL20 Rack Server comes with the HPE DL20 Gen9 290W Power Supply Unit. This Non-Hot-Plug Power Supply Unit (
823805-001) is allowed in every chassis option. If you were looking for a redundant Power supply, then you will have to select the SFF Chassis. The power backplane option can support up to two (2) hot-plug AC power input modules. This Redundant power supply option is only supported on DL20 Gen9 SFF chassis model.

If you’re going to install the redundant power supply, then you will need the following items.

  • HPE900WStandard AC 240VDC Power Input Module (775595-B21 - 830219-001)
  • HPE DL20 Gen9 Redundant Power Supply Cable Kit (820306-B21 - 823807-001)

ECS Warranty Information

Express Computer Systems (ECS) provides a 1 year parts warranty against defects in material or workmanship that will affect the products functionality. All refurbished items are tested prior to shipping to guarantee up-time upon arrival. If you are having issues with an item we provided please Contact Us and we will do our best to assist you.

What does our ECS warranty cover?
We offer 1 year warranty as standard and additional years can be added to fit your needs. Please reach out to a sales associate via the Contact Us page or live chat for more information on extended coverage options. During the coverage period if your product fails we will offer a Next Business Day replacement. If we are unable to replace the product we will refund its original selling price. Shipping costs and tax are not refundable. Express Computer Systems retains the right to decide whether the goods will be replaced or refunded.

What is not covered by our warranty?
Our warranty does not cover any problem caused by the following conditions:

  1. accidents; misuse; carelessness; electrostatic discharge; shock; temperature or humidity beyond the specifications of the product; improper installation; operation; modification;
  2. any improper use that contravenes the instructions in the user manual;
  3. problems caused by other equipment. Our warranty is void if the product is returned with damaged, removed, counterfeit labels, or any modifications (including any component or external cover removal). Our warranties do not cover data loss or damages to any other equipment. In addition, our warranties do not cover incidental damages, consequential damages, or costs related to data recovery, removal, and installation.

Important notes:

  • Please ask for additional warranty/coverage that you may require in addition to the standard 1 ECS warranty prior to final purchase. Requesting additional warranty after your purchase can be denied.
